• Overview

The 10th session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-10) will convene at the African Union Commission from 23-25 April 2024 in Addis Ababa-Ethiopia.

The meeting is organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, and various United Nations organizations. The ARFSD-10 theme for the meeting is "Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063: Eradicating Poverty in Times of Multiple Crises."

Member states are mid-way through implementation of the 2030 Agenda, which now underscores the need for ambitious, practical, and bold solutions to be agreed upon to accelerate realization and alignment to the Agenda 2063 targets.

ARFSD-10 will serve as a strategic platform to address shortcomings, leverage emerging opportunities, and catalyze action towards robust, accelerated, and timely implementation of both Agendas.

The main meeting will be preceded by a series of side events and pre-events that will take place at the UNECA Conference Center from 17 to 22 April 2024.

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) intends to use the occasion to highlight its comparative advantage to contribute to the environment pillar of the SDGs that integrates climate action, biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste action.
