UNEP's International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) is partnering with the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) to co-host the third Methane Summit, a key regional forum on methane mitigation.
The summit convenes governments, industry representatives, international organizations and technical experts to exchange experiences, discuss advances in methane measurement and management, and strengthen regional cooperation on methane mitigation across the energy sector.
On the second day of the summit, IMEO will deliver a half-day technical training on satellite-based methane detection and management. The training will introduce participants to satellite-based methane detection approaches, including applications of IMEO’s Methane Alert and Response System (MARS) and Eye on Methane data platform.
The training is designed for government officials, regulators, private sector representatives and methane experts seeking to strengthen their technical understanding of methane detection and management. Participants will learn how to apply remote-sensing data to decision-making through hands-on exercises and case studies from the oil and gas sector.
