UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen will participate in the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) Solutions Dialogue, a high-level event convened by the Government of Brazil and chaired by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The session takes place during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week as part of the Solutions Dialogues series, which aim to accelerate and scale up climate action in the lead-up to COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
The Dialogue will bring together senior representatives from tropical forest countries and potential sponsor governments to build momentum for the TFFF, an international blended finance mechanism proposed by Brazil to support standing forests and the communities that depend on them. The Government of Brazil is expected to announce its own financial commitment to the Facility.
UNEP has been working closely with Brazil on innovative approaches to mobilize finance for forests. At this event, Inger Andersen will highlight the importance of establishing a mechanism that is timely, simple yet robust, and complementary to other international initiatives such as REDD+ and forest carbon markets.
Attendance by invitation only.
