Lead Acid Batteries - Activities at UNEA 4

The fourth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly was held in Nairobi, Kenya on the 11–15 March 2019 under the theme “Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production”.

• The session featured a sustainable innovation expo where an exhibit on the alternatives to lead-acid batteries activity was presented.

• A Science-business-policy forum took place with a mini-side event titled Promoting Innovative Solutions to Toxic Lead (Paint, Batteries) which keyed into the thematic stream of the event themed Redesigning Metropolis: Smarter, Greener Solutions for Cities. This side event sought to highlight the environmentally sound management of used lead-acid batteries and promote alternatives to lead-acid batteries to all participating stakeholders.

• A high-level dinner of business and industry major groups took place and members of the Global Battery Alliance attended it.
