Theme: Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet
The seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) took place from 8 to 12 December 2025 at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
UNEA-7 was preceded by the seventh meeting of the Open-ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR-7) which was held from 1 to 5 December 2025.
Green Room
As part of the UNEA-7 in December 2025, the Major Groups Facilitating Committee (MGFC), in consultation with Civil Society Unit of UNEP, coordinated the use of the "Green Room"—a dedicated space for Major Groups and Stakeholders to convene, exchange ideas and organize side events or capacity building sessions.
Interested parties were invited to apply for a side event in the "Green Room" which was available only for in-person or hybrid formats. Green Room did not allow purely online meeting. The venue was equipped with internet connection, electricity, beamer, projection screen, tables at the front and seating for audience.
To request a slot, applicants were asked to refer to the this excel sheet and propose a preferred date and time. Green shaded slots were those already booked. All proposed side events were required to align with the overall theme of UNEA-7 "Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet”.
If multiple proposals were received for the same time slot, the Green Room Task Force discussed and prioritized based on the following criteria:
- Regional and Major Group Representation
- Relevance to UNEA-7 theme
- Quality and Diversity of Speakers
- Collaboration among multiple organizing partners
The Green Room Task Force reached out individually to selected event organizers only. The final list of selected Green Room side events was announced on 15 November 2025.
Applicants were requested to read carefully the Guidelines for Green Room Event organizers before submitting their applications.
