This side-event is organised in partnership with the governments of Eswatini and Seychelles.
This side-event will focus on three key pillars for strengthening Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs).
- securing climate finance for BTR preparation
- building capacity for stronger transparency frameworks, and
- exploring available support mechanisms
A panel discussion featuring representatives from partner institutions and member countries will aim to identify concrete pathways to support countries in participating in the process and achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement and its Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF).
Objectives
- To engage stakeholders on the Commonwealth Review of BTRs
- To raise awareness among Parties, particularly developing countries, about the critical importance of strong BTRs
- To provide a platform for discussing challenges and opportunities related to climate finance for BTR preparation
- To explore strategies for capacity building to strengthen national systems and expertise for preparing high-quality BTRs, and
- To identify and discuss available support mechanisms and initiatives from international organisations and development partners to assist developing countries in meeting the ETF requirements.
