Buildings, construction and infrastructure are central to addressing some of today’s most pressing challenges, from climate change and energy security to housing affordability, resource efficiency and sustainable economic growth. The sector is responsible for approximately 37 per cent of global energy-related emissions and nearly half of global material extraction, while also facing increasing risks from extreme heat, floods and storms.
As governments, cities, industry and financial institutions work to deliver climate and development goals, the challenge is no longer identifying solutions but implementing them at scale. This roundtable will explore how the Near-Zero Emission and Resilient Buildings Plan to Accelerate Solutions (NZERB PAS), hosted by the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), can help translate commitments into action through coordinated approaches to policy, finance, procurement, resilience and market transformation.
Bringing together key stakeholders from across the built environment value chain, the discussion will highlight progress achieved to date, examine opportunities to accelerate implementation ahead of COP31, and explore how the NZERB PAS can align with broader Plans to Accelerate Solutions to drive measurable outcomes across mitigation, adaptation, energy transition, industrial decarbonization and circular economy objectives.
