Event Overview:

This session, part of the World Water Forum, will highlight how global water-related processes, initiatives, and upcoming events such as the UN 2026 Water Conference connect to the recently adopted UNEA 6 resolution on “Effective and inclusive solutions for strengthening water policies to achieve sustainable development in the context of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution”. The session will highlight how UNEP and partners are serving its Member States to better restore, monitor and manage their water resources in line with SDG 6 `Clean Water and Sanitation’, and promote actions addressing the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems and Health (WEFE+H) nexus. 

The session aims to achieve the following outcomes: 

  1. Increased awareness on the issues to be addressed to achieve global water resilience; 

  1. Increased awareness of global programmes, platforms and initiatives and need for alignment across multilateral agreements and frameworks; 

  1. Enhanced engagement from diverse sectors, including energy, agriculture, and finance, in addressing water-related challenges; 

  1. Advocacy for effective and inclusive solutions for strengthening water policies to achieve sustainable development in the context to Indonesia.
