On the margins of the Second and Third Committees of #UNGA78, UNEP, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, in partnership with the Core Group of States supporting the Mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and the Environment, are convening a side event to deepen thinking on how the human right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment can be implemented in the context of the climate emergency with tangible benefits for people and the planet.
The event will highlight the interconnectedness of the work of the Committees of the General Assembly, the importance of exchange between their work and will bring visibility to the landmark resolutions on the human right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment adopted by the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly.
