Joining details.

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are on the frontlines of the climate crisis - facing rising seas, intensifying disasters, and severe resource constraints that limit their ability to respond. Despite contributing least to global emissions, they bear the heaviest burden of climate impacts.

At COP30 in Belém, the ‘Technology Mechanism for Impact: Bridging Policy, Innovation, and Action for Climate Solutions in LDCs and SIDS’ will spotlight how the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism - through the work of the UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the UNEP Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) - is driving real-world climate solutions for SIDS and LDCs.

The TEC provides policy guidance on emerging priorities such as artificial intelligence for climate action, climate-smart agriculture, and community-based early warning systems, helping shape a strong foundation for technology-driven resilience. The UNEP-CTCN turns this guidance into action, delivering hands-on technical assistance and flagship programmes like the EC Innovative Climate Solutions and the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA). Together, they demonstrate how global collaboration can translate innovation into impact, bridging policy and practice to support low-emission, climate-resilient development.
