UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) will host a webinar for its Methane Alumni Network – individuals across governments and national oil companies who have received IMEO’s Methane Training – to strengthen understanding of how countries can design measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) frameworks aligned with UNEP’s Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) standards for methane regulation in the oil and gas sector.
The webinar is organized by IMEO in collaboration with Carbon Limits and forms part of UNEP’s broader methane capacity-building efforts under its methane training and alumni engagement initiatives. It builds on IMEO’s Methane Training Series and supports ongoing knowledge exchange within the Methane Alumni Network, contributing to global efforts to accelerate methane mitigation.
The session, titled “A Blueprint for MRV: How Countries can Build OGMP 2.0-Aligned Reporting into MRV Methane Regulations,” will explore core principles and practical approaches to aligning regulatory frameworks with robust measurement and reporting practices. Discussions will focus on key themes including the application of OGMP 2.0 principles to inform regulations, as well as global best practices and considerations for implementing methane policies. Participants will gain practical insights into designing methane reduction targets and strengthening regulatory and operational approaches, based on the methodologies outlined in a corresponding publication issued by IMEO in December 2025.
This webinar is aimed at members of the Methane Alumni Network, including policymakers, industry representatives, and technical experts working on methane emissions in the oil and gas sector. It also supports the Network’s ongoing commitment to building a global community of methane champions, fostering knowledge exchange, and accelerating progress toward meaningful methane emission reductions worldwide.
