• Overview

On Wednesday, 28 April 2021, Green Hope Foundation will be hosting a webinar 'Restoring our Earth to its Rightful Equilibirum'.

Climate change and biodiversity loss do not respect national boundaries, just like the COVID-19 virus. Their impact is omnipresent and their threat is multiplied manifold by our ignorance and nonchalance towards the dangers that they pose.

It has also been proven beyond a doubt that the impacts of climate change are felt in regions, far away from their source and by communities who are least responsible and utterly unprepared for it. Thus, for the polluting nations, biodiversity loss and climate change are tokenistic issues that they don’t really care about because it impacts someone else. However, erratic weather patterns, forest fires, droughts, and hurricanes are making their presence felt even in these safe-havens, and developing nations are slowly raising their voices to this environmental injustice. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a realization that change is possible. With collaboration, empathy, and a multilateral approach, we may just be able to rebuild a new normal and restore the Earth, which is also the theme of this year’s Earth Day.

Guiding questions:

• What should we do differently in post-COVID era to rebuild better? • How can we implement new ways of development that are people friendly and nature symbiotic? • What are the steps that need to be taken that will enable the most vulnerable regions to move away from being victims of linear supply chains to resurgence through local circular bioeconomies?
