Following discussions with the ad hoc Open Ended Working Group (OEWG) Bureau, and subject to the availability of funds, it was agreed to convene regional meetings on the UNEP science policy panel on chemicals, waste and prevention of pollution (SPP).
The SPP OEWG Asia Pacific Regional Meeting was hosted in person and online on 7 September 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting was held back to back with the Minamata Asia Pacific regional meeting from 5 to 6 September 2023, at the same venue.
The aim of the SPP OEWG regional meetings was to undertake strategic discussions to prepare for the second session of the OEWG, scheduled for 11-15 December 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya.
