LAC Regional Meeting in preparation of the OEWG 2 for Science Policy panel on Chemicals, waste and pollution

Following discussions with the ad hoc Open Ended Working Group (OEWG) Bureau, and subject to the availability of funds, it was agreed to convene regional meetings on the UNEP science policy panel on chemicals, waste and prevention of pollution (SPP).

The SPP OEWG Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Regional Meeting was hosted on 7 October 2023 at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasilia, Brazil. The meeting was held back to back with the Minamata GRULAC regional meeting from 5 to 6 October 2023, at the same venue. 

The aim of the SPP OEWG regional meetings was to undertake strategic discussions to prepare for the second session of the OEWG, scheduled for 11-15 December 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya.
