The African Energy Commission (AFREC) is organizing a training workshop in Dakar, on 27-28 January 2026, for stakeholders from the oil and gas sector in Senegal.
During the two-day in-person workshop, participants will be taken through IMEO's Methane Training Series, covering key topics on methane sources, measurement and quantification, and mitigation. Additional sessions will cover flaring systems, LNG value chain emissions, and the application of satellite technologies for countries, as well as the development and implementation of methane-specific regulation for the O&G sector. Most of the sessions will be delivered by methane experts from Carbon Limits.
UNEP’s IMEO will present its Methane Alert and Response System (MARS) as well as the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0).
UNEP’s IMEO engages with regional entities like AFREC to strengthen countries' understanding on methane emissions and appropriate mitigation measures and how science-based data can support progress.
