GMP2 Pacific Islands Region Inception Workshop

The Inception Workshop for the UNEP/GEF project on "Continuing Regional Support for the POPS Global Monitoring Plan under the Stockholm Convention" in the Pacific Region" and the Training Workshop of the UNEP/GEF project on "Global Project on the Updating of National Implementation Plans for POPs" were held on <4 - 8 April 2016, Suva, Fiji. The workshops mainly delivered the following outputs:
- Good understanding of the context of the project, including the effectiveness evaluation of the Stockholm Convention and the outcomes of the GMP1 regional project in the Pacific Region
- Clarification of the roles and resopnsabilities of the participationg countries and institutions
- Increased familiarity with the set-up, workplan, timeline, budget and activities of the GMP2 project, including air sampling and analysis, human milk sampling and laboratory training
- Discussion and finalization of the drafted legal agreements between UNEP and the participating countries.
