• Overview

This three-day workshop will convene public health professionals, environmental scientists, and border health authorities to explore the critical role of wastewater and environmental surveillance (WES) at points of entry. Grounded in the principles of One Health, the event will examine how airports and ports can function as strategic surveillance sites for the early detection of pathogens and emerging health threats.

Through technical sessions, case studies, and interactive discussions, participants will gain practical insights into designing and implementing WES systems in high-traffic and resource-constrained settings.

The workshop contributes to the Global Wastewater Surveillance Initiative for Africa, supporting coordinated efforts to expand wastewater-based monitoring across the continent.
