Background

Accelerating climate action to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development must be addressed through an integrated approach. Coinciding with the UN 2023 SDG Summit, the 9th EbA Knowledge Day will spotlight ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) and nature-based solutions for adaptation (NbSA) as integrated approaches - combining adaptation, mitigation, and biodiversity co-benefits - crucial for achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The goal of the 9th EbA Knowledge Day is to connect global climate change efforts with the importance of EbA and NbSA as solutions that cut across various global challenges. The event will feature a high-level panel discussion, followed by interactive discussion tracks, led by the Friends of EbA (FEBA) and the Global Adaptation Network (GAN), to explore key questions related to measuring and setting targets for EbA and NbSA through specific global policy mechanisms. The insights generated in these discussions will provide a basis for GAN and the FEBA networks to make collective inputs to the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, Cop28, and other policy forums.
