Sharing a border and the vast Lake Titicaca, Bolivia and Peru have many similarities. Over the past two years, miners and government officials from Bolivia have embarked on exchange visits to neighboring Peru to learn from the experiences and work being carried out there to spread responsible, #mercuryfree mining practices.
Through participating in expos and visiting mercury-free mine sites in Puno previously strengthened by the planetGOLD Peru project, the hope is that the Bolivians can apply lessons they learn in Peru back home in their own communities.
This sharing of knowledge aims to build momentum toward making mercury history in the region. See more in this episode of Dispatches from the Field.
