Update on Project Results
Ghana developed a 10-year strategic plan (2021-2030) which was published in July 2022. The Industrial and Consumer Chemicals Bill 2021 has been forwarded to the Attorney General's Department for onward transmission to Cabinet and Parliament for approval and gazetting. The Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1994 (Act 490) Amendment Bill (The Environmental Protection Bill, 2022) which establishes a functional unified multi-sectoral/multi-stakeholder coordinating mechanism for SCMW will be considered for approval in the coming months and gazetted. Satellite Focal Persons from identified Focal Institutions have been trained alongside the staff of the Chemicals Control and Management Centre (CCMC) of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
