High-Level Political Forum 2023

COVID-19 recovery spending can accelerate action on Agenda 2030, the Paris Agreement, and other critical agendas. This boils down to stimulus policies that are job rich; that support recovery through decarbonization, that back nature and that tackle pollution. Such policies can also address growing inequalities, improve health, increase food security and so much more.

The 2023 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) (10-19 July 2023, New York) reviewed SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation, SDG 7 on affordable and clean energy, SDG 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities, and SDG 17 on partnerships for the Goals, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council

Under the theme "Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”, participants at the 2023 HLPF discussed effective and inclusive recovery measures to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and explore actionable policy guidance for the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs at all levels.

A number of countries carried out voluntary national reviews, and other activities were organized on the margins of the forum, including side events, VNR Labs, special events, and an exhibition.
