UNEP OzonAction Branch is organizing a 3-day Twinning Workshop and Border Dialogue for National Ozone Officers and Customs Officers of selected countries (Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda) of the Eastern Africa region.
Network Meeting of the Pacific Island Countries National Ozone Officers: The overall objective of this network meeting is to facilitate the network countries to share experiences/good practices in various areas under the Montreal Protocol to strengthen capacity of the National Ozone Officers to sustain compliance with obligations under the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment e.g.
To address the challenge countries are facing with data collection, OzonAction has developed a KIP preparation kit - a checklist and a series of questionnaires for experts and NOUs to use in data collection. Other OzonAction tools and products can be used in KIP preparation and implementation.
The overall objective of this network meeting is to facilitate the network countries to share experiences/good practices in various areas under the Montreal Protocol to strengthen capacity of the National Ozone Officers to sustain compliance with obligations under the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment e.g. to achieve 2 parallel obligations including 67.5% reduction in HCFC consumption and freezing HFC consumption in 2025.
The meeting is a part of the activities of UNEP OzonAction's Montreal Protocol Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network). Simultaneous English-Russian interpretation will be provided. Participants will include staff of the national Montreal Protocol Units (MPUs), refrigeration experts, representatives of implementing agencies and regional partners, and RACHP training centers.
The training workshop will enhance the capacities of customs officers and other key stakeholders in the control measures related to new tariff regulations for HFCs and HFC blends, the safe handling of flammable refrigerants, and the labelling of equipment, as well as in the prevention of illegal trade.

As part of China’s HPMP Stage II Tranche 5 Activities, the Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR) will hold a training session for R-290 Room Air Conditioners for international master trainers, in cooperation with UNEP Compliance Assistance Programme, South Asia (SA) Network. Also invited to the training session are master trainers from other regional networks, i.e. Southeast Asia (SEA), West Asia and, Latin America.
