Arshad Khan has been working for UN Environment since 2012 and is currently leading South Sudan Country Office. His new additional responsibility to support establishment of Somalia Office and programme. With over 20 years of experience in the field of environment and development, Arshad has worked with national and state governments, municipalities, national and international organizations both in developing and developed countries mainly in the areas of environmental management, capacity building, institutional strengthening, and waste management. His current work activities include; climate change adaptation, natural resource management, environmental policies and legislation. Before joining UNEP, Arshad worked for local authorities in the UK; IUCN, GiZ, provincial and local governments in Pakistan, and consulting firms in the U.S.
Arshad Khan holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from USA, and a diploma in leadership and management from the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), UK. Arshad is also registered as a Chartered Waste Manager in the UK.
