Claudia Giacovelli joined the International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC) in February 2016. Based at the IETC Office in Osaka, she supports the work that the Centre is undertaking to establish itself as the Global Centre of Excellence on environmentally sound technologies, with a focus on waste management. Her background is in development economics and social sciences and for the past several years where she collaborated with UNIDO South Africa to secure partnerships as well as to develop and manage projects aimed at fast-tracking the transition towards a low carbon economy.
