Doreen Lynn Robinson is the Deputy Director for the Ecosystems Division at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya, supporting work on biodiversity, land degradation, marine and freshwater ecosystems, regional seas, and disasters and conflict.
Previously, she was the Branch Chief for Biodiversity and Land within the Ecosystems Division, overseeing work in biodiversity, one health, sustainable food systems transformation and support to nature-related multilateral environmental agreements. She joined UNEP in 2018 as the Unit Chief for Wildlife.
Doreen served in global, regional and national leadership positions for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for nearly two decades, including serving as Regional Director for the Agency’s biodiversity, water, climate adaptation and energy programmes in 14 countries in Southern Africa. She worked with civil society organizations earlier in her career, including World Wildlife Fund and humanitarian response NGOs spanning a range of locations around the world.
She holds degrees in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Maryland and Animal Science from Cornell University.
