Biography

Dr. Adonsou is a Programme Officer in the Multilateral Environmental Agreements Support and Cooperation Unit of the UN Environment Law Division. Mr Adonsou promotes the ratification of or accession to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing by Parties to the Convention of Biological Diversity. He also promotes national implementation frameworks on access to genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their utilization.

Mr. Adonsou further provides support to Governments in implementing the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) by linking environment and development to sustainable land management and tree planting.

Emmanuel Adonsou holds a Ph.D. in environmental sciences from the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Canada, an M.Sc in tropical agriculture and nature conservation from the University Georg-August of Göttingen, Germany, and an Engineer agronomist degree in plant production from the University of Lomé, Togo.
