Project Title: Scaling up sustainable management of chemicals and waste in Moldova to accelerate transition to a toxic free environment

Project Summary: 

The project proposal builds on the new emerging threats of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution. It is aimed to develop and adopt interventions to tackle environmental pressures of chemicals and waste, focusing on regulating the use of the most harmful chemicals and providing better controls to ensure that legislation is adhered to, while taking into consideration the gender impacts of chemicals and waste. 

Project Objectives:

This will be carried out through the achievement of the following objectives: 

  • multisectoral cooperation and coordination in building sound chemicals and waste management is reached;
  • national legal framework and market control mechanisms for chemicals management consistent with MEAs and EU obligations is improved;
  • Global Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals is developed
  • gender-responsive training and awareness raising provided among general and professional public on chemicals and waste issues
