Project Summary

The overall objective of this project is strengthening Uganda’s national capacity to implement control procedures under the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions and the Minamata Convention, building on the outcomes of the previous Special Programme project in Uganda. During that project Uganda’s National Chemicals profile was updated which identified gaps that will be filled through the implementation of the proposed project.

Project Objectives

  • The key intended project outputs are:
  • Reviewing and updating the National Action Plan for the Sound Management of Chemicals reviewed and updated
  • Tools for the sound management of chemicals and waste developed
  • National Multisectoral Technical Committee on Sound management of chemicals and associated waste is institutionalised
  • A fully functional project management unit established and operationalised.
