Knowledge & advocacy

UNEP advocates for a shift in current behavior, knowledge and policies towards equitable and sustainable forest conservation and management.

Mobilizing societal and political support for forest action is crucial if we want to avoid the worst of a climate catastrophe.

To halt deforestation, every action matters. Individual actions can lead to collective change. To get there, we need to enhance knowledge and build awareness and capacities to mobilize funding to protect forests with high social and environmental integrity.

UNEP supports countries to raise ambitions and commitments to forest actions through:

- facilitating knowledge generation and sharing of REDD+ practices, experiences and innovation; and,

- implementing knowledge-based advocacy campaigns to shift current behavior, practices, narratives and policies towards equitable and sustainable forest conservation and management.
