Since its establishment in 1985, the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) has marked key moments in advancing Africa’s environmental priorities. These milestones reflect progress across AMCEN’s core areas of work: Climate Action, Nature Action, Chemicals and Pollution Action, and Land Degradation, Desertification, and Drought Action.
Over the years, these commitments have been translated into deliberate and groundbreaking action—for people and planet—shaping policies, mobilizing partnerships, and driving transformative change across the continent.
