The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is the implementation arm of the Technology Mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and is hosted by UNEP.
Operating on a demand-driven basis, the CTCN responds to requests from developing countries for technical support in climate-relevant technologies. Through its services, it promotes the accelerated adoption and diffusion of environmentally sound technologies for low-carbon, climate-resilient development. The CTCN offers three core types of services:
- Technical assistance — to help countries identify, design, deploy or scale climate technology solutions.
- Access to knowledge and information — through repositories, best practices, matching of expertise, etc.
- Networking, partnerships, and capacity building — facilitating collaboration among stakeholders, strengthening national capabilities, and linking actors across public, private, research and civil sectors.
The CTCN consists of two parts: a centre—a coordinating entity headquartered in UN City Copenhagen—and a worldwide network of organizations that delivers CTCN services—both virtually and actually. In short, the centre operates the network, and together they constitute the CTCN.
The CTCN is accountable to and guided by the Conference of Parties (COP) / the Paris Agreement Parties (CMA) through its Advisory Board, which ensures alignment with international mandates and priorities.
