The Ministerial Meeting on Environment and Climate Change between the Ministers of the Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and the European Union (EU) intends to be an opportunity to exchange points of view on areas to strengthen collaboration between both regions , considering the results of UNEA5, UNFCCC COP 27, CBD COP 15, the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on plastic pollution (INC-2) and other relevant international processes.

The meeting has been organized as part of a consultation process agreed upon at the III Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the EU, organized by Argentina as the pro-tempore Presidency of CELAC, where the Foreign Ministers agreed on a roadmap to improve the relationship between both regions, the "Road to 2023", in preparation for the EU-LAC Summit at the level of Heads of State and Government in July 2023, under the Spanish Presidency of the European Council. This meeting is part of the “Road to 2023”.

Expected results

The meeting will result in a summary of the President and a short report that will highlight the key points of convergence around regional priorities and interregional cooperation, which will be used as input for the European Union - Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Summit ( EU-CELAC) on July 17 and 18 in Brussels.
