UNEP will launch the 2025 edition its An Eye on Methane report, which takes stock of progress harnessing a data revolution that can accelerate methane reduction on a global scale.
The report is produced by UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO), which provides open, reliable and actionable data to the individuals who can act to reduce methane emissions. Reducing methane emissions is the fastest, most cost-effective way to slow short-term global warming as we decarbonize.
Now in its fifth edition, An Eye on Methane maps how satellite data provided by IMEO's Methane Alert and Response System is—and is not—being used to drive action, assesses UNEP’s Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0's progress scaling measurement and mitigation across the industry, and details how IMEO is evolving data-sharing tools and scientific research to enable progress in sectors like steel and waste.
