The LATAM region has enormous potential in almost all renewable resources. Non-conventional renewable sources are becoming the cheapest sources of power, enabling countries’ electricity matrixes to become progressively cleaner and affordable. While there is a clear opportunity to execute renewable energy project pipelines and investments in the region, barriers remain.

Featuring senior officials from LATAM countries, FIs, developers and UNEP, this event will mark the launch of the New Financial Mechanisms for Clean Energy Investments in Latin America Report.

The report maps out challenges and opportunities for clean energy investments in the region, with a focus on the private sector. The objective of the report is to come forward with solutions closing some of the existing gaps and demonstrate that an innovative public-private support mechanism can successfully de-risk investments in key clean energy sectors in Latin America and crowd-in private capital.

The event will  highlight challenges and opportunities found from a regulatory and financial perspective to support further engagement and investments from the private sector. The event will spark a discussion between practitioners, policy makers and other stakeholders from the region to anchor the report and its findings in their day-to-day reality.
