Plastic pollution constitutes a planetary crisis with impacts on ecosystems, biodiversity, the climate and human health.

The High Ambition Coalition to End Plastic Pollution is committed to develop an ambitious international legally binding instrument based on a comprehensive and circular approach that ensures urgent action and effective interventions along the full lifecycle of plastics. Our common ambition is to end plastic pollution by 2040.

This UNGA77 side-event will provide an opportunity to discuss how to define an evidence-based vision and roadmap to End Plastic Pollution by 2040 and developing science-based solutions, insights and policy scenario to achieve it. This could involve looking at the assumptions, enablers, interventions for systems change, standards, policy frameworks, technology and incentives for government, private sector and finance institutions towards this ambition.
