Description

The project aims to support rural communities and livelihoods that depend on healthy ecosystems to adapt to climate change in Tanzania. Climate impacts in the country include temperature increases, seasonal shifts in rainfall patterns, and higher frequency of floods and droughts. Many livelihoods such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries and forestry are expected to be impacted.

The project has the following components that will support delivery against the objectives:

  1. Capacity to adapt to climate change through EbA approaches
  2. EbA for rural resilience
  3. Knowledge management on climate change adaptation and upscaling

The project starts with a participatory climate change vulnerability assessment that is based on communities’ needs. The project will cover one ward per district during implementation: Simanjiro, Mpwapwa, Mvomero and Kishapu districts in the Mainland and Kaskazini A Shehia, Kaskazini-Unguja in Zanzibar.
