Tbilisi, 25 October 2023 – The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) today announced a USD 19 million project aiming to build climate resilience in the United Republic of Tanzania, part of a landmark collaboration with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.

Maputo, 24 February 2022 – The Government of Mozambique has launched a USD 6 million project to protect its coasts from the impacts of climate change through the restoration and conservation of nature.

With funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and support from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the project is drawing on the natural defences and buffers that coastal ecosystems offer against storms, flooding and saline intrusion.

November 30, 2021 – A new USD 6-million-project is building the resilience of urban residents of Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, against the impacts of climate change, such as flooding, landslides and drought.

The project, funded by the Global Environment Facility’s Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and executed by the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA), is establishing and restoring urban green spaces and installing rainwater harvesting systems to improve water availability for communities.
