Meet the team

Alex Owusu-Biney supports the UNEP-GEF Portfolio on Biosafety in the development, implementation and technical support to the National Biosafety Frameworks in line with Member States obligations to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety at the Global, Regional and National Levels.

Jane has been with UNEP’s Ecosystems Division since 2014 as the GEF Task Manager in charge of Africa, where she is charged with project development, implementation, supervision and management, plus knowledge management and UNEP/GEF corporate tasks. Since then she has mobilized over $50 million in funding from GEF to UNEP and the participating countries.

Anna Kontorov has over 15 years of experience working on climate change adaptation, ecosystems and biodiversity issues.

She started her career at the Finnish Ministry of the Environment, focusing on European Union and international biodiversity policy processes, joining UNEP’s Climate Change Adaptation Unit at the end of 2007.

Currently based in Bangkok managing projects in the Asia Pacific region, Moon Shrestha has been working as task manager for GEF and GCF projects with UNEP for over five years. During this period, she has been involved in developing and managing various GEF/GCF projects mainly related with ecosystem-based adaptation.

Anu oversees the GEF Chemicals and Waste Portfolio finances and administrative queries.



She has 17 years of experience in administration at the UN Office of Nairobi and in programme budgeting in UNEP. Anu is a national of the Netherlands and India, she holds an MBA.



 

Florence oversees the financial management of the Cross-Cutting Capacity Development (CCCD) portfolio as well as the GCF-funded Climate Information and Early Warning Systems (CIEWS) portfolio.

Neha Dharmshaktu supports the implementation of the Supply Chains Integrated Programme and Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC) projects within UNEP’s GEF Chemicals and Waste Portfolio.

Edward supports the management of the GEF Chemicals and Waste Portfolio budget.



Before joining UNEP, he worked for 10 years in UN-Habitat in project and programme management, administration, finance and budget, Business Intelligence and reporting, staff training and training coordination. Edward is a national of Kenya, he has a Master in Economics Policy and Management.

As a programme management officer with UNEP Climate Change Adaptation Unit, Eva supports countries’ efforts to adapt to climate change impacts through planning and implementing ecosystem-based approaches.

Marcus Nield is an endlessly enthusiastic communication specialist for UNEP's Climate Change Mitigation Unit and the Global Adaptation Network (GAN).

Dickson provides support to UNEP project teams on GEF programmes, encompassing project cycle management and quality assurance. He ensures that GEF projects comply with the requirements and policies of both UNEP and GEF project programming. He has over 10 years of experience in project and programme management.

Caroline Okana has worked with UNEP for over 16 years with the GEF International Waters Unit within the Ecosystems Division whose mandate is to support transboundary cooperation in shared marine and freshwater ecosystems. Under programme management, she provides support in project development activities, project implementation activities as well as administrative support to UNEP's GEF&nbsp

Catherine serves as a Programme Management Assistant in the Climate Change and Adaptation Unit. Catherine has over 12 years’ experience in coordinating, planning and supporting budget, procurement and operational requirements. Catherine has developed, implemented, and managed financial, administrative and procurement systems and policies to support programs and organizations at large.

Evance Ochoo is a Finance and Budget Assistant at the GEF Coordination Office. He brings over nine years of expertise in accounting, finance and budget management, grants administration, compliance monitoring, and project cycle management. Previously, Evance worked with UNEP's Law Division as a Finance and Budget Assistant.

He provides support to the projects within Climate Change Mitigation Unit and is responsible for the Unit’s financial information system. He has over 9 years of work experience in finance, accounting, and project management. Before joining UNEP, Aaron worked with UNON for 4 years as a finance assistant.  

Under the guidance of Fund Management Officer, Clare supports Fund management functions of Enabling Activities Portfolio-GEF, Climate change Mitigation Unit. She also supports in the follow-up actions related to HR activities for the unit.

Elca supports the development, management and implementation GEF Climate Change Enabling Activities Portfolio.  She has 13 years’ work experience in Environment and Natural Resource Management.

Roy is a Finance and Budget Assistant at the GEF Coordination Office in Policy and Programme Division. 

Antony is a Programme Management Assistant supporting Harmonised Approach to Cash Transfer (HACT) processes and requests for GEF funded projects at the GEF Coordination Office. He has worked in UNEP for over 8 years.

Tainá is working as UNEP Climate Mitigation Finance Expert (UNV) in LAC Portfolio.

She provides general financial and administrative support for LAC Portfolio. Including support to Project Implementation/ Internalization; Financial Reports; Project Evaluation/ Closure and recruitments.

Joseph provides technical and administrative support to developing countries in preparing and submitting their climate transparency reports (BTRs, NCs and BURs) to the UNFCCC under the Paris Agreement. He contributes to improving operational processes, reporting systems, and administrative efficiency through the effective use of digital tools and technology. 

Carla is working as UNEP Climate Mitigation Finance Specialist (UNV) in LAC Portfolio. 

She provides financial and administrative support to the Climate Change Mitigation Unit Latin America and the Caribbean Portfolio. 

She has 14 years of experience working with treasury, finance and budget control in the United Nations.  

Hassan Coulibaly is a GEF Mitigation and Transparency Project Specialist at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), supporting climate mitigation and transparency initiatives across Africa, particularly in Francophone West and North Africa.
