Biography

Rocky Dawuni is a four-time Grammy-nominated Afro Roots musician and environmental activist. In his musical career, Dawuni has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Ozomatli, Sauti Sol, Janelle Monáe, and John Legend, among many others. In 2011, he was named one of Africa’s top 10 global stars by CNN. 

In addition to serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme, Dawuni is a UN Foundation Ambassador for the Clean Cooking Alliance, an ambassador of animal advocacy and wildlife non-profit Born Free USA, and a global ambassador for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization-established World Day of African and Afrodescendant Culture. Through these and other designations, Dawuni uses his music and voice to shine a light on crucial issues facing humanity across the globe through live concerts, speaking roles, panels, youth empowerment and more.
