Promoting eco-entrepreneurship in Africa

The greatest challenges facing eco-enterprises are a lack of access to knowledge, networks, financing and high-quality business development services and poor enabling conditions, including a shortage of skilled people at the community level.

The project grantee, SEED (Supporting Entrepreneurs for Environment and Development) Initiative, has considerable eco-entrepreneurship expertise, a proven methodology and effective tool kits. SEED assists policymakers and eco-entrepreneurs, taking a holistic approach to supporting eco-enterprises at different stages of development. Through this project, SEED will provide tailored support for a significant number of eco-enterprises to enable them to scale up and replicate, provide training to broaden the competencies of business development service providers, stimulate eco-entrepreneurship using existing processes and structures in the wider business ecosystem, identify ecosystem enablers and incentives and engage policymakers.
