The Challenge

Uganda is facing increasing challenges due to deforestation, water pollution and the degradation of its wetlands, riverbanks and lake shores, making it difficult to achieve the environmental sustainability called for in the country’s constitution. The Government’s development strategy, Uganda Vision 2040, emphasizes sustainable development through the preservation of natural resources such as forests and wetlands. The Uganda Green Growth Development Strategy and various policies, regulations and standards further encourage a transition towards an inclusive green economy. Uganda identified agriculture, manufacturing and tourism as its priority sectors for SWITCH Africa Green.
