Governance
IMEO engages a diverse range of stakeholders through a comprehensive governance structure composed of three key elements.
IMEO Board
The Board is the strategic governance body of IMEO. It makes recommendations on workplans, strategy, budgets and securing funding consistent with UN regulations, rules and procedures. Its members provide advice in the best interest of the mission of IMEO. It consists of representatives of donor governments, Head of IMEO and experts.

IMEO invites organisations and companies working on issues related to methane transparency, science, and capacity building to join the Advisory Council to ensure synergies.
The Council is headed by the Chair of the IMEO Board who can delegate this function to the Head of IMEO.
