يتناول الإصدار الخامس من تقرير فجوة التكيف لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة التقدم المحرز في تخطيط وتمويل وتنفيذ التكيف - مع التركيز على الحلول القائمة على الطبيعة.
لم يقتصر عام 2020 على انتشار الوباء فحسب، بل شهد هذا العام أيضاً ارتفاع درجات الحرارة بصورة قياسية وتأثيرات مناخية متزايدة: مثل الفيضانات والجفاف والعواصف وحرائق الغابات وأوبئة الجراد. بل إن ما هو أكثر مدعاة للقلق هو أنه بناءً على التعهدات الحالية بموجب اتفاق باريس، يتجه العالم نحو ارتفاع في درجات لحرارة بمقدار 3 درجات مئوية على الأقل هذا القرن، والذي لن يؤدي إلا إلى تكثيف هذه الآثار. يساعد "التكيف" على تقليل تعرض البلدان والمجتمعات لتغير المناخ من خلال زيادة قدرتها على استيعاب التأثيرات والبقاء قادرة على الصمود.
