Partnerships are the driving force behind NAWE and over the past few decades, increased recognition has been given to the important role played by partnerships in addressing global challenges. The UN Conference on Environment and Development placed partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society as central to achieving global sustainable development. Successive United Nations conferences and summits have echoed this commitment and have called upon the United Nations to develop partnerships with the private sector, nongovernmental organizations and civil society to enable them to contribute to the realization of internationally agreed development goals as well as the organization’s goals and programmes.

NAWE currently has seven partners drawn from organisations led by some of the founding members shown in below. There is an opportunity moving forward to invite new partners from the private sector, youth organisations and civil society to wider encourage representation of women working across a range of landscapes on the African continent.
