• Overview

An interactive discussion was held online on 19 July following the presentations made at the Partnership Area on Mercury Releases from Coal Combustion Meeting held in Jakarta on Thursday 13 July 2023 in conjunction with the fifteenth International Workshop on Multi-pollutant Emissions from Coal workshop (MEC15) "Strategies for targeted emission reductions from the Indonesian coal fleet: capacity building to accelerate compliance".

The discussion included exchanges on:

  • Ways to input data and information to the project "Assessment of existing and future emissions reduction from the coal sector toward the implementation of the Minamata and Stockholm Conventions" funded by the GEF and executed by Macquarie University and the ICSC
  • How to provide emission reduction proposals to inform the Indonesian Minamata Convention Compliance strategy
  • Ideas for potential future projects (for example, mercury fate in seawater FGD systems)
  • Proposals for input to the International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in July 2024
  • Suggestions for the further evolution of the Partnership Area
