The Mercury Releases from the Cement Industry Area of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership held its annual meeting on Monday 13 February 2023 in an online setting.

Amongst others, this was be the occasion to welcome new partners, review the draft partnership area business plan, and present recent and upcoming activities.

The Global Mercury Partnership, through its area of work on mercury releases from the cement industry, aims to minimize mercury releases to the environment from this sector, as a contribution to the compliance with relevant provisions under the Minamata Convention.

      • Establishing Mercury emissions database
      • Encourage use of most appropriate techniques to reduce or minimize mercury releases into the environment
    • Increase the awareness of government and regulatory bodies on mercury as a pollutant through increased outreach efforts
    • Support the development of policies and regulatory frameworks supporting the objective of the partnership area
