In a bid to tackle the damage caused by the use of mercury in the Amazon, WWF-Brazil is launching the first Plan to Mitigate the Impacts of Mercury on the Amazon Environment and its Populations, a strategic and comprehensive initiative aimed at safeguarding both environmental and human health. The document outlines effective measures to reduce contamination in areas blighted by illegal gold mining and other high-risk industries,while offering alternatives to tackle the worsening conditions of vulnerable communities in the Amazon.
