Youth engagement at UNEP

Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP

The Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG) represents the voices and interests of young people within the framework of UNEP. As advocates for future generations, CYMG emphasizes that the issues we tackle today will profoundly affect both present and future generations. Their contributions are essential for shaping the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP's) policies and programmes. Consequently, UNEP recognizes the importance of promoting intergenerational dialogue and solidarity by considering and integrating the views of young people in its initiatives. More information

UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Youth Task Force

The involvement of youth in the UN Decade and #GenerationRestoration movement is critically important, not only for the sustainability of restoration initiatives beyond 2030 but also for promoting intergenerational equity. The Youth Task Force of the UN Decade is composed of 25 youth from different regions, groups, affiliations (representing constituencies and in personal capacities) and areas of expertise. The Task Force will facilitate the engagement of youth advocates, youth-led restoration initiatives, and a wide range of formal and informal youth groups. More information

Global Environment Outlook's (GEO-7) fellowship programme

The GEO-7 Fellows are young experts (under 35 years old) who support the GEO-7 authors with research, citations and references, visual development, and other tasks. The fellows are crucial to the GEO-7 Team and participate in meetings and writing sessions. For the Fellows, being part of GEO-7 is a great learning and networking opportunity as well as a chance to contribute to a major global environmental assessment and interact with experts from all over the world.  More information
