Youth, Education and Environment

UNEP’s current youth work is global in scale and engages multiple partners, including UN agencies, youth movements and networks, civil society organizations, private sector, and educational institutions, as a means of engaging large numbers and a diversity of youth.

The largest generation in history is stepping up to shape a greener, more sustainable future.

With half of the global population under 30, young people are not just inheriting the planet—they are actively driving the transition to cleaner, greener technologies and industries. UNEP is committed to supporting this generation through a comprehensive approach.

UNEP approaches meaningful youth engagement from several angles, from capacity building, increasing access to policy making and facilitating participation towards a climate neutral, nature positive and pollution free future. Through innovative platforms and initiatives, UNEP ensures young people play impactful roles in the environmental space.
