The project will provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of lessons learned in each region by supporting the participation of National Focal Points (NFPs) in Ministries of Environment (MoEs) and National Statistics Offices (NSOs) in the Regional Environmental Information Network (REIN) Conferences organized and hosted by UN Environment, or their equivalent where they already exist.
REIN Conferences are scheduled to take place once in each region during the timeframe of the project and will provide an opportunity for stakeholder to meet together to:
- identify priorities and emerging issues for integrated environmental assessment processes;
- exchange knowledge and lessons learned on sharing and using data in support of reporting and integrated environmental assessment processes in each region; and
- share experience on reporting on the environmental dimension of the SDGs. This will help to strengthen the knowledge base of environmental data and assessments necessary to informed decision-making, and as such also contribute to improve environmental governance in each region.
For each region, a report on lessons learned on sharing and using data in support of reporting and assessment processes will be developed and published to capture project results and support the further development of the knowledge base of reporting and assessments.
